Made in Blog (not China)
So let’s get started…Step 1: You need a blog!
Yeah in order to make money from blogging the first thing you need is a blog. WordPress (a blogging program which is an option to install on your server) is in my opinion the best, hands down. That’s what I use and it’s actually what just about every blogger uses. In order to have a blog you will need to setup a hosting account to host your blog. I suggest using HostMonster because once you setup your hosting account, they have a feature that will auto install WordPress in less than 2 minutes! That means you don’t really have to know anything to get your own blog live online. Pretty cool huh? They also have “tech support” that can do it for you if you don’t know what to do. Just give them a call and ask. They are available 24/7 and awesome guys that give you support at that.
Step 2: Determine Your Topic or subject matter or theme or cause or whatever you call it, but “SOMETHING to BLOG about please.
This is “THE” most important step.
You need to find in your head the direction your blog is going to go.. here are some things to consider before you blog:
A. Who is your target audience, in other words, who do you wish to talk to in your blog, teenagers, x generation, 30 something…
B. What are you going to discuss on the blog, are you discussing many subjects related to the same topic, or change topics all the time and blog about subjects within the different topics.
C. What revenue generating opportunities are there in that space, go to commission junction (dot) com and setup an account (free) and then find “per lead” products that relate to your subjects/topics (at commission junction you will find tutorials that will walk you through how to sort merchants). If you cannot find a merchant to advertise for there, go to Amazon and become an affiliate, since if you can’t find a product on Amazon.com to sell for a commission then you really need to go back to Step 2: again.
D. Where would you find your target audience. This has also a lot to do with where do you advertise your blog for readers. If you go to Digg.com or Squidoo.com or search for blogs in you topics and ask them for help by way of comments you will find a direction in this matter. Also ask yourself what are you an audience to?
Step 3: Put yourself on a schedule please.
Next to finding a topic/subject to talk about, one of the most important things is getting on a blogging schedule. This means getting yourself used to blogging on a daily, every other day or weekly basis. Don’t leave your readers stranded. It’s extremely important to always reach the people reading your blog with new information on your topics/subjects. If you tend let your blog sit for too long without updating it people will forget about you and your blog. Always remember that you cannot sell anything if you do not advertise it and blogging about great deals is advertising the deals. Go into your blogging with a good plan of action and remember that it doesn’t matter what ideal life you imagine, you just need to know that it is possible.
Ok. so this is a plan of action for you right now… By the way you can contact me from the contact page or look me up on facebook and I will be glad to lend a hand (free) to you. Just don’t rethink this to death and do nothing please.
Step 1: Solution
Simply go to HostMonster right now and sign up. I think its like under $6/month for hosting which is pretty dang cheap. I use it myself and they do an awesome great job. Plus they have an affiliate program that pays you $60+ for anyone you refer to them! Heck even I use the affiliate program! But really they have the best service and how do you beat it with less than $6 a month for hosting and WordPress installed and ready for you to blog about your passion? Checkout HostMonster now just Click Here…
Step 2: Solution
This is something you must determine on your own at all cost. Here are some suggestions to help you decide on what might be good for you and what you will blog about:
A. Your target audience really depends on “what you are blogging about”. I suggest writing about something that you currently like or are interested in at the moment or about your passion. I personally blog most times about software that I use, because I have been a computer tech since 1995 and have come across many useful applications that have become indispensable to my daily computer experience.
B. Again like I said just blog about something you enjoy or something you know a lot about. Of course it needs to be something others are interested in as well, otherwise you will be blogging to yourself and never have readers!
C. Once you’ve determined your subject, that will help you determine your target audience. Now it’s easy to find revenue generating opportunities at either commission junction or Amazon that fit within that target audience.
D. Now that you know all of this information it’s pretty easy to brainstorm on how to locate and advertise your blog to your target audience. (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Forums etc)
Step 3: Solution
Discipline. Success simply does not come if you put no effort into it. Don’t expect to make millions from your blog. Trust me it will take hard work to ever make the first penny. Set your goals on making $10 dollars the first month, then $10 a week, then $10 a day, and so on… The fact is people do make money from blogging and it can be a lucrative opportunity but it will take time, and if you blog about something you feel has a purpose, you will not notice the time. “BLOG about something you know a lot about or are PASSIONATE towards. Those people making money will probably tell you “blogging is my full time job”. And yeah they think of it as a “job” because it requires time, energy, and MOST important is ambition.
Well I hope this helped in shedding some small light on blogging. For now simply stay focused on getting your blog setup and choosing your topic to blog about. The rest will come to you if not shout at me, I will try to help.
P.S. If you are a visual learner “like me” go to this website http://www.netsalestrainer.com, the guys there will guide you (with over 50 videos) through every single step of all of the process I have mentioned above.
